·     Overseas Research Student (ORS) Awards,1990-1994 (set up by the UK Secretary of State for Education and Science in 1979 to attract high-quality international students to the UK to undertake research)

·     Research Studentship Award,1990-1994, from British Aerospace, UK for PhD studies.

·     To date, authored/co-authored more than 143 publications;66 in international journals and 77 in conferences and also one book.

·     More than 20 patents granted and pending, some of which has been commercialized. 

·     Joined the Center for Wireless Communications (CWC), Singapore in 1994 as a Member of Technical Staff. Currently,  Principal Scientist and Program Director of Power Aware Wireless Sensor Networks in the Institute for Infocomm Research of A-STAR.

·     Leadership of the communications research activities in I2R which has attracted R&D contracts from industry, worth more than S$15 millions, with many leading companies, e.g., SONY, Toppan, European Aeronautic Defense and Space Company(EADS),..  

·     Initiated new wireless research programs in Singapore, in particular, RFID and UWB. Led the development of a direct conversion transceiver design for Wireless LAN with IBM and since April 2004, has led to I2R to become an invited IBM Business Partner Program for silicon designs.

·     Has held adjunct professorial positions in the National University of Singapore(NUS) and Nanyang Technological University(NTU) of Singapore , supervising PhD and Master students and teaching courses.

·     External appointments in various government agencies; Infocomm Development Authority, IDA as a member of Telecommunications Standards Advisory Committee, and also member of Radio Standards; SPRING as industry technical  reviewer.

·     Contributed to the local industry as Technical Advisory Member of Rhode & Schwartz Communications & Measurements (Asia) and technical advisor (GET-UP program) for Amplus.  

·     Has served in organizing and technical program committees in several international conferences and was the Program co-chair of IEEE International Workshop of Antenna Technology (IWAT) 2005.

·     Invited to be a keynote speaker and technology panelist in IEEE International Conference of Ultrawideband ICUWB 2005, ETH,Zurich, Switzerland.

·     General Chair of IEEE ICUWB 2007.

·     Appointed in the editorial board of IEEE Transaction of Microwave Theory and Techniques and served as reviewer for IEEE Journal of Solid State Circuits and various journals.
